Weird Toyota: Toyota WiLL Vi

While cruising along the highway near the old Subang Airport, I saw an odd looking vehicle. Previously I spotted a Nissan S Cargo, which seems to be rarer than the Lotus Esprit in Malaysia (can be found in abundance in Sunway area). This odd looking vehicle appears to be a Toyota WiLL Vi, which is a compact car, produced from 2000 to 2001, with distinctive styling combining elements of many cars. The WiLL Vi was designed by the then newly-formed Virtual Venture Company, headed by Jim Shimizu. Catering to a niche market, the Will Vi was not officially sold in Malaysia.

Powered by a Toyota 2NZ-FE DOHC straight 4 engine with a capacity of 1300cc, this engine produces 88bhp with 123Nm of torque at 4400rpm. Weighing at only 940kg, this little shoe does 0-100 in around 2 years (actually I couldn't find the correct data, perhaps 14 seconds? Would be glad if someone can update on the 0-100).

The dashboard kind of resembles a facelift Perodua Kancil dash!

The front looks like the back! Only the rear windscreen position gives it away.
