Google's Driver-less Car

The state of Nevada has given Google the green light for its test driverless car to travel on public roads. The car is a modified Toyota Prius, featuring sophisticated onboard electronics that drives itself in auto-pilot mode. 

The modified Toyota Prius was issued a license bearing an infinity sign  next to the left of number “001” after demonstrating its auto-pilot  capabilities on highways, neighborhood streets and even the hectic “strip” in  Las Vegas.

How it works:
The system combines information gathered from Google Street View with artificial intelligence software that combines input from video cameras inside the car, a LIDAR sensor on top of the vehicle, radar sensors on the front of the vehicle and a position sensor attached to one of the rear wheels that helps locate the car's position on the map.

Interesting Fact:The only crash that has occurred during so far was when it was being driven manually!

TOYOTA PRIUS MPV ON EARLY NEXT YEAR!

Toyota will be introducing the next extension of its Prius family, a MPV-sized offering, at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next January.

There are no details about the vehicle, the second to wear the Prius badge, save a teaser video called Prius Puzzle, showing the MPV’s profile in a billboard in Malibu, California, mostly hidden by the current ZVW30 Prius

Given the scope increase, the longer-wheelbase Prius MPV should easily be a seven-seater. It and a planned third Prius model, which will be smaller than the existing third-gen version, are slated to enter the US market in two years time.
