Everything You Need To Know About The $1.3 Million McLaren P1

The McLaren P1 will have its official debut next week at the Geneva Motor Show, but since we know almost everything about it already, there is no point in hiding anymore. The winning numbers are:

0-62 mph under 3 seconds.0-124 mph under 7 seconds.Top speed is limited to 217 mph.List price is £866,000 on the road, so expect north of $1.3 million in the US.Only 375 will be made.

The only thing that was changed for the production version is the addition of LTR ducts ahead of each of the front wheels to further aid cooling and optimise downforce. Specially developed P Zero Corsas and Akebono carbon brakes will help to keep all 903 horsepower on the road, and no, the McLaren P1 probably won't baby...

Hamann's McLaren MP4-12C based memoR has been given the art car treatment to make "grass-green Porsches, neon yellow Lamborghinis and even luminous red Ferraris" fade into the background. Described as "magnificent haute couture," the multi-colored model has an aerodynamic body kit that draws inspiration from the McLaren F1. It features a new front bumper with LED daytime running lights, a front splitter and a roof-mounted air intake. There's also revised side skirts, an extended diffuser, a prominent rear wing and 21-inch aluminum wheels. The styling kit is priced from €95,000 ($123,225) which sounds pretty expensive since it doesn't appear to include any performance upgrades. However, customers can order a bespoke interior with everything from Alcantara upholstery to wood trim.

HAMANN memoR based on the McLaren MP4-12C

Hamann celebrated the world debut of its McLaren MP4-12C tuning program with the unveiling of the memoR at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The German company has now released a batch of new photos showcasing the model.

Hamann has failed to supply any engine tuning details, suggesting the package is unfortunately all about style. Perhaps the twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine has been deemed sufficient and continues to produce the factory output of 600 PS (441 kW / 592 bhp) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque.

The body kit meanwhile has been extensively updated with Hamann's own package. It includes a new front bumper with integrated LED lights, a new rear wing, a more aggressive hood with integrated air vents and an extensively redesigned rear end with a new triple-tailpipe layout and an extended rear diffuser.

The exterior design is then completed with a glossy black finish featuring a red racing stripe running along the center as well as a set of 21-inch wheels.

McLaren unveils new successor to F1 supercar

 

IF YOU liked the McLaren MP4-12C then you'll love the stunning new supercar its creators have come up with.

The McLaren P1 - which luckily has a slightly less confusing name than its smaller sister - is being billed as the spiritual successor to the company's F1 supercar of the 1990s, which held the honour of being the world's fastest production car for more than a decade thanks to its 627bhp BMW Motorsport V12 and its slippery, Peter Stevens-shaped body.

Ron Dennis, exectutive chairman of McLaren Automotive, said: "The McLaren P1 will be the result of 50 years of racing and road car heritage.

"Twenty years ago we raised the supercar performance bar with the McLaren F1 and our goal with the McLaren P1 is to redefine it once again."


There's no official word on the car's performance - the old F1 could shoot to sixty in 3.2 seconds, before heading onto a top speed of 241mph - but expect it to be significantly quicker than the smaller MP4-12C, which can already hit 207mph thanks to its 592bhp twin-turbocharged V8 engine.

At the moment the P1 is being presented as a "design study" but the company has already said it expects a production version to be unveiled within the next 12 months.
