Tom Mix, famous Hollywood cowboy actor and car collector, personalized his cars with a Western USA theme, here is his '38 Cord 812 SC Phaeton

Of the 196 cars made similar to it, only 3 were built with the rare options like the external spare tire. The other 2 were also owned by celebs, Al Jolson who went through a lot of impressive cars, and Barbara Stanwick owned the other

What are the IMIXIH in the center of the steering wheel representing I wonder. Of course, it's more likely that the straight lines are just decorating between the letters MXH

That pistol handle, might be a parking brake handle, a prop gun, or anything you might imagine

I think this might be the first time I've seen a leather decoration on the outside of a car

Tom was driving this car at age 60, across Arizona, and missed reading the sign about Bridge Under Construction and swerved to avoid the barriers and construction, and flipped the car, and died.  http://fan.tcm.com/_Tom-Mix-and-His-1937-Cord-812-Phaeton-/photo/16303893/66470.html

Tom did his own stunts, and made 348 movies between 1915 and 1935
