BSA 52 Golden Flash 4000km in 8 days.

The Long Ride --------------

Darren is about to go on a ride... a long ride! All for a good cause and a bit of fun. We will be following his escapades closely so stay tuned. See his email below and photo on the right.

Hi Everyone,

I’m nearly ready for the Long Ride starting on the 4th of November, riding from Sydney in a big loop through Broken Hill, into S.A, down through the Grampians, along the Great Ocean Rd and then through Gippsland back to Sydney via Canberra… 4000km in 8 days on a 1952 BSA Golden Flash.

The ride is to raise research funds and awareness of Prostate Cancer for the Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia.

According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, prostate cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in Australia (except for non-melanoma skin cancers) and the second greatest cause of cancer deaths in men. It is estimated that over 18,700 new cases were diagnosed in Australia. Tragically, more than 2,900 Australian men each year die from prostate cancer. In the early stages, there are few symptoms of prostate cancer; however, if detected early, prostate cancer is often treatable and curable. This is why men aged 50 (not me yet) and over, or 40 if there is a family history of prostate cancer, should not wait for symptoms; they should talk to their doctor about prostate cancer - a simple step that could save your life.

All donations greatly appreciated. The easiest way is using the link below.

Throughout the ride I will be adding photos and hopefully videos of the days riding action for those interesting in following the journey of the old machine winding its way around the South Eastern corner of Australia.

Best Regards,

Darren J. Starling
